At Kaleidoscope Dance, we firmly believe in teaching the fundamentals of technique in all styles of dance as this leads to developing a well-rounded dancer. We offer a variety of classes for all ages and abilities. We understand that families are busier than ever these days, so we schedule many of our classes back-to-back, for your convenience. And, we limit the size of our classes to allow for individual, personalized instruction. Did you know? Studying the arts can improve your child’s performance in school, their social skills and self-confidence; contributing to a well-rounded and adjusted individual. Through our programs, we hope to be of service to parents in helping them raise their children to become wholesome, confident individuals with high self-esteem. Lastly, we are very aware of the current trend to exploit young dancers with skimpy costumes and suggestive choreography. We never allow inappropriate costumes, music or choreography to be performed. Instead, we strive to reinforce the positive values and respect that our dancers learn at home and school every day. Tiny Tots  -  Ages 18-30 months (and Mommy & Daddy too!) This is the perfect class for children that have never been in a classroom setting before and is a great opportunity to spend high-quality time with your little one. Ballet positions and exercises will be taught, along with beginner dance terminology. Dancers will begin to develop basic motor skills through across- the-floor combinations, consisting of hopping, skipping, marching, galloping and basic tumbling. Props will be used to keep students interested in and excited for dance. Parents or caregivers play an integral role and participate in class. The Tiny Tots class also introduces young dancers to many new life lessons such as taking turns, listening, following directions and making new friends! If your child loves to dance at home, they will really enjoy dancing with their new friends in their first dance class! Tiny Tots is an 8 week class offered several times throughout the year.  Current offerings: Tuesday, September 21 - Tuesday, November 9 10:00 am - 10:30 am Thursday, September 23 - Thursday, November 11 10:00 am - 10:30 am Early Childhood Program  -  Ages 2-6 Our Early Childhood Program is specifically designed to provide girls and boys between the ages of two and a half and six with a strong foundation in dance and movement.  We incorporate the Leap ‘N Learn program, a comprehensive early childhood dance syllabus that focuses on the basic physical elements of space, movement, musical awareness, directions and elementary positions of ballet. In addition to these physical elements, we integrate the intellectual concepts of self-awareness, teamwork, creative expression, imagination and basic body/health awareness. The Program also helps children learn the basics of classroom behavior and manners, which include learning how to take turns, following another dancer or leading the way, waiting patiently, working together with others and having a positive attitude. Creative activities are a large part of each class. The use of stories, games and props facilitates a fun and creative environment. By the end of the year, your young dancer will be able to dance independent of the instructor, memorize simple exercises and sequences, and begin to interpret music. Our Early Childhood Program classes prepare a young dancer for future training in all styles of dance. All dancers learn a routine to perform in our year-end performance.
